A bit about me:

I guess I could call my self a "multipotentialite". I do and enjoy a great many things particularly creative things.

I'm a creator and artist. I do photography, art, music production, electronics, cars and all sorts of random things.

I'm an old school/analogue enthusiast. I collect vinyl, shoot film, enjoy old tech, old cars.

I like traveling and exploring and it's when I get to take photos a lot, which is why you will see a lot of photos in location based albums.

As well I really enjoy skateboarding and longboarding with my mates.

Photography:

What got you into photography & Why do you shoot film?

I’ve always had an eye for photography ever since I was young. I never had access to a proper camera just cheap digital point and shoots. But over time I got a phone and I experimented with that but I felt limited, I had tried some DSLRs and then found film shooters on YouTube and I thought it was really cool, especially the colours and the natural feel of these images that were being produced. Eventually getting a Canon A-1 from my grandad and learning it, I just fell in love with the process of taking photos on film and SLRs. Film has so many aspects that digital just can’t capture well and you own a physical copy this tangible photo. It’s like any analogue format compared to digital. You have natural grain, this amazing light range and incredible highlights. Its risk and reward…

You are limited in many ways, altho I already “think more, shoot less” and making each frame count. I can just see that photo and sometimes it's just oh that's really cool, but most of the time it's that I want to capture a feeling, or a specific memory in time. And whether that is for someone I've never met, for my self or for people who have shared the same or similar experience you had at that time. So with that photo who ever it is, can feel that photo, that time and remember with their memories as well.

What Cameras do you use?
Canon A-1
Canon T90

Why these cameras?
I prefer Canon because I like the way they’re designed. Altho the A-1 was my own first SLR camera anytime I've used other canons its been design.

The A-1 was the top of the line for the 70s. Very much a smaller more manual camera compared to the T90, which was the top of the 80s and has more features and is more automatic, a bit more professional.

Music:
What genres do you enjoy?

The obvious answer like many is I don't know because I have too many and that is exactly me.

Broadly electronic, hip hop, rock, alternative and many more. (More specifically is house, techno, rock, jazzy hip hop, retro wave and vaporwave +more)

Favourite Artist?

Again too many but really i'd say Daft Punk, A big influencer in my taste of music.

You collect vinyl?

Yes, I do! (You can find the link to my discogs collection under music)

Why vinyl?

There's always the analogue controversy especially in sound but a few factors that are generally ignored is the experience and extras that you get. Looking at this large cover, with gatefolds you get this awesome large artwork to look at and enjoy, pulling out the sleeves, riding the lyrics, holding this physical copy of the music you are about to listen to and when you do you are more likely just to listen to it fully and just letting it play through rather than skip through it. Consider that if you want to collect vinyl yourself!

Other:

Do you sell your work & Would you do digital downloads, zines, books or prints?

No but I would like to do zines, prints, books, etc if enough people were interested . This includes both my photos, art and music.

I am making a lot of my photos free to download digitally though.
I just do this as a passion.

Why do you do these mini albums?

I'm very specific with my photos, even more when it comes to film and what my limits are. Usually when I travel to a specific location, I like to put the photos I selected into a mini album, consisting of a location and month as it just makes things easier and location based rather than scattered in an album of the month.

Each location I travel to, I have a specific emotion for, depending on what I'm feeling and other variables like weather.

These genres could be skate and grime 90s, neo noir, summer skate surf and chill, desolate places.
I shoot a story/limited documentary style, so the viewer makes the environment story and emotion by viewing an album.

Why the name BazzJay?
When I was young I needed a nickname. So I ended up using Bazza, my dogs name and Jay my middle name. Literally joined together.

And its stuck with me and I don't think I'll lose it.
